Wareham Week 5/5/20 – “Cooks for Community” to feed more people for more weeks

Thanks to additional funding, more people are receiving healthy meals each day, and the program will last for at least six weeks. The Institute is currently working on securing funding to pay for a seventh week of meals.

MARION — The Marion Institute Southcoast Food Policy Council (SFPC) has launched “Cooks for Community,” a community-specific collaboration that works with service organizations and local restaurants in SouthCoast to ensure that at-risk populations have access to food from safe sources.

Lifelong Wareham resident John Decas and Southcoast Health have teamed up with the South Coast Food Policy Council at the Marion Institute to provide 100 food-insecure people in town with a hot meal from a restaurant five days a week for a month through the Cooks for Community program.
