Join Us at Frogfoot Farm: Volunteer to Make a Difference!
We’re excited to kick off another season of volunteer efforts at Frogfoot Farm, and we need your help! Our farm plays a critical role in supporting local food systems by growing fresh, nutrient-rich produce for food relief programs. With potential funding cutbacks on the horizon, our work—especially gleaning—is more important than ever.
Why is gleaning so vital?
Gleaning is the practice of harvesting surplus or unmarketable produce that would otherwise go to waste due to lack of labor or marketability. These fruits and vegetables are then distributed to food pantries and meal programs, ensuring that fresh, healthy food reaches those who need it most. What we’re hearing from our food pantry partners is clear: demand is growing, and access to fresh food is increasingly uncertain. By volunteering, you’re directly helping to bridge this gap. The Marion Institute is still planning out this program, but by signing up to be a volunteer at Frogfoot will give you the training and tools you need to become a gleaning volunteer in the future.
What can volunteers expect when volunteering at Frogfoot Farm?
At Frogfoot Farm, volunteers will have the opportunity to get hands-on experience in:
- Food Production – Learn about sustainable farming techniques while harvesting and preparing crops.
- Ecology – Support biodiversity by maintaining pollinator-friendly spaces and natural habitats.
- Soil Health – Assist in composting, mulching, and regenerative farming practices that keep our soil thriving.
Now is the time to step up! Whether you’re passionate about food justice, sustainability, or simply want to spend more time outdoors in a meaningful way, we welcome you to join us. Your time and effort will have a direct impact on local families facing food insecurity—and together, we can strengthen our community food systems.
