Evoking flavors of its higher calorie relatives – apple pie and apple crisp – this simple dessert is both delicious and nutritious.
Makes 4 servings
4 organic apples
4 tablespoons butter, divided
4 teaspoons brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Optional additions: walnuts, nutmeg, quick oats
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Scoop the apple cores without cutting all the way through the fruit. Fill each well with 1 tablespoon butter, 1 teaspoon brown sugar and 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon.
3. Bake for 15 minutes or until the apple is tender.
