Sanchez-Gaton selected for Leadership SouthCoast’s Class of 2017

The Marion Institute is pleased to announce that SouthCoast Energy Challenge Community Outreach Manager Milagros Sanchez-Gaton has been selected for Leadership SouthCoast’s Class of 2017.

Since taking over the Energy Challenge, Millie has worked tirelessly to educate and empower SouthCoast residents on energy conservation and renewables. Her outreach in Spanish speaking communities in New Bedford and Fall River has been invaluable.

Leadership SouthCoast brings together individuals from the non-profit, private, and public sectors to explore the critical issues and opportunities that exist across the region in areas such as economic development, education, environmental sustainability, government, public health, and criminal justice.

The curriculum includes a Community Action Project, by which participants work in teams to assist local non-profit and public organizations to development new, or implement existing, initiatives attempting to address community issues. The project experience enables participants to invest their skills, resources, and expertise into efforts that directly benefit SouthCoast communities, while participating organizations benefit and boost their capacity through hands-on assistance, new ideas and skills, and beneficial new partnerships.
