Aquaculture Policy Coalition

At our Food Summit on October 3, 2025, many expressed a strong interest in advancing aquaculture policy as part of strengthening our regional food system. We’re grateful for that energy — and we’re ready to build on it.

The Marion Institute’s Southcoast Food Policy Council — in partnership with the New Bedford Ocean Cluster, Massachusetts Aquaculture Association, Southeastern Massachusetts Agricultural Partnership, and the Buzzards Bay Coalition — has officially launched the Aquaculture Policy Coalition and invites you to join us in this next phase of collaborative work.

This coalition will convene partners, producers, advocates, and community leaders to:

  • Identify shared aquaculture policy priorities
  • Support sustainable local growers and harvesters
  • Align messaging and advocacy efforts
  • Educate and engage decision-makers

The conversations that began at the Summit made it clear: there is momentum, expertise, and commitment in this community. This coalition is about turning that momentum into coordinated action.
