Ribbon cutting and 3rd Annual Enviro-Action Block Party!

POWER would like to invite you to the grand opening, ribbon cutting, and tour of our three properties in the west end of the city of New Bedford. The event will be held on Friday, September 28, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and continue on Saturday, September 29, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with the 3rd Annual Enviro-Action Block Party, “Connect! Create! Celebrate!” (rain date September 30, 2012). Blessed Energy band, featuring Tem Blessed will perform and co-host the event.

 

 

Attendees at these two events include Mayor Mitchell, Councilor Bruce Duarte and others. Learn more about The Marion Institute, POWER, NBEN-New Bedford Energy NOW! and all our staff and partners, including City of New Bedford, UMASS Sustainability Initiative, YouthBuild New Bedford, Old Bedford Village Development Corporation (OBVDC), Next Step Living Inc. (NSL), 3rd Eye, and learn more about Urban Oasis, Green Jobs Pool, Leadership Incubator System, POWERFULLLS show, energy efficiency/renewables opportunities, Connecting for Change conference, Sustainability Education Initiative, and international engagement.

POWER is offering a weekend of events beginning Friday afternoon that announces Eco-Warrior Awards honoring YouthBuild and OBVDC and the announcement of the new POWER mayoral fellowship for Ecological Restoration. The Block Party is an opportunity for residents to share their solutions. POWER is an urban leadership incubator that creates whole systems solutions to issues of ecology, economy, equity, and education issues. POWER is a lead partner and co-creator of NBEN!-New Bedford Energy NOW with SouthCoast Energy Challenge and City of New Bedford. All of these events are free, safe, and fun! People are encouraged to connect, create, and celebrate the new future we are creating together.
