Spiritism: Bridging Spirituality and Health
The Fulni-O Indians of Brazil are living examples of the most benevolent shamanic traditions. They cultivate their ability to be highly effective healers through communion with Spirit and Gaia, the intelligence of the Earth itself.

How do we bring this way of life into a form that is relevant and appropriate for contemporary life? Some Brazilian hospitals allow spiritual healing alongside conventional treatment for mental and physical illnesses. In fact, approximately 20 to 40 million Brazilians have participated in this unique form of spiritual healing – called Spiritism.

Why? “Because,” says film-maker Emma Bragdon, “Spiritism has proven so successful.” She is completing a 40-minute documentary film that reveals the practical details of these healings, and interviews the physicians who are involved. “One spiritual center,” Bragdon continues, “has had 90% success with returning addicts and those profoundly depressed to a normal, healthy life." Learn more about this ecumenical way of life and healing.
