Serendipity Projects

About Our Serendipity Projects

The Marion Institute is a member based non-profit that acts as an incubator for a diverse array of programs and projects that delve into the root cause of an issue and seeks to create deep and positive change for the earth and its inhabitants.

Some of these initiatives – which we have entitled Serendipity Projects – may be large or small, global or local in scope. One of our success stories, which was a past Serendipity Project – the Green Belt Movement – won the 2004 Nobel Peace Prize.  These projects represent a diverse array of interest areas.

The Marion Institute acts as an umbrella organization for its Serendipity Projects and programs promoting and supporting individual project leaders and organizations who are on the ground working to enhance life for the earth and its inhabitants. Please take a few minutes and read through our diverse array of Serendipity Projects.

We often look to our members as one source for identifying and supporting new initiatives. The notion of the “Serendipity Project” was first established as a means of fundraising for Board Member-sponsored projects, through the aid of the Marion Institute’s 501c3 status.  Today, we have the ability to offer this same form of sponsorship to projects that we feel dovetail with the Marion Institute’s mission statement of “identifying and promoting programs that seek to enhance life for the earth and its inhabitants.”  This unique relationship allows us to not only accept tax-deductible gifts on behalf of a particular project, but more importantly, can help strengthen a project’s mission.
